Over 400 Alumni are Working at All Levels Towards Educational Equity
Indianapolis alumni have started nonprofits, turned around some of the city’s most struggling schools, and won elected office. With a large number of alumni from our network working in leadership roles throughout the city, ours is the most exciting community to work in public education in the country. Indianapolis alumni continue to make a huge impact in the classroom beyond their two years in the corps. Alumni like Lauren Hall (Indianapolis '12) are starting nationally recognized extracurricular programs to elevate voices of students that often go unheard.
Alumni School Leadership is Strong in Indy
There is huge opportunity for aspiring school leaders in Indianapolis. Over 100 alumni in the city are serving as school leaders including 36 mid-level leaders, 22 principals and eight school systems leaders. For over six years our Principal Fellowship has offered alumni the opportunity to develop their skills and take the next steps toward a career as a school principal. This program has produced 13 principals, including two program fellows who opened their own schools—Ian Yearwood (Indianapolis '09) at Vision Academy and Shanae Staples (Metro Atlanta '09) at Kindezi Academy.
